Oaxaca at 10,000 feet

We have a scientist neighbor here in Oaxaca who invited us to take a trip into the Sierra Norte mountains outside of San Pablo Etla. He studies the effects of climate change on trees and needed to measure the circumference of the trees in a 50-meter square lot in the middle of the forest. In between tagging, measuring and recording data about the trees, I took these photos.

I’m sure there is a more specific name for these, but I just call them air plants.
